In this episode, I defend America’s system of Democratic Capitalism against the prevailing progressive view that it is flawed, and the liberal elite’s view that it is a history of exploitation. The conversation explores the abuses and advancements during the Gilded Age in the United States, including legislative short selling and ethical lapses in modern times. The conversation also acknowledges the tremendous advances in incomes and standards of living during the Gilded Age and discusses the myth of income inequality. I argue that Democratic Capitalism works exceptionally well and continues to enrich millions of people in the US and billions around the world.
